Education/Certification Info - Certificate & Exam

The Uniform CPA Examination assesses the knowledge and skills that entry-level CPAs need when they enter public accounting. A computer-based exam was introduced throughout the nation on April of 2004, allowing individuals to take one or more sections of the exam, in any order, on any day of the work week, at one of several testing centers.

  • Pre-evaluation of your Transcript
    A pre-evaluation of your transcript by CPA Exam Services will identify any academic deficiencies in your education before you apply to take the CPA exam in Massachusetts. The fee is $50.

  • Center for Educational Documentation
    Candidates who have completed any education outside the U.S. (excluding approved college semester abroad programs) must have their credentials evaluated by the Center of Educational Documentation.

  • Apply for the Computerized CPA Exam
    Find applications for initial and re-examination candidates, information about requirments, fees, scores, etc.

  • Schedule a Test Appointment
    Candidates who have applied to sit for the computerized Uniform CPA Examination and have received a notice to schedule (NTS) may schedule their appointments at a Prometric test center. Test seats are booked on a first-come, first-served basis and should be reserved at least five days in advance of the desired exam date.     Scholarship Lottery for CPA Exam Candidates
    In an effort to increase the number of test takers and defray exam costs, the Society will hold a lottery to award up to 30 vouchers in the amount of $400 to candidates planning to sit for the exam between May 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008. To be eligible, the individual cannot receive financial assistance from his or her employer. Download the application.
