06.03.10– A member of the Class of 2010—who this season dons synthetic cap and gown, listens to the inspirational words of David Souter (Harvard), Anderson Cooper (Tulane), or Lisa Kudrow (Vassar), and collects a diploma—need not be a statistics major to know that the odds of stepping into a satisfying job, or, indeed, any job, are lower now than might have been imagined four long years ago, when the first posters were hung on a dorm-room wall, and having a .edu e-mail address was still a novelty.

New College Grads to Make Less $$$

04.12.10– The average college graduate will earn an entry-level salary of $47,673, down 1.7% from $48,515 a year ago, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Finance majors, however, fare better, with average starting salaries up 1.6%. Accounting majors saw their average starting salaries rise 0.4%.

CPA Exam Contract Renewed in the U.S. Through 2024

03.09.10– NEW YORK, NASHVILLE, Tenn, and BALTIMORE (March 8, 2010) - The contract providing for nationwide administration of the Uniform CPA Examination in the United States has been extended until 2024 by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, and Prometric - the three organizations that jointly offer the CPA Examination in the United States.
