Breaking the Cultural Barrier – a Workshop for International Students
The Society sponsored its first event strictly for international student members. KPMG hosted the students at their Boston offices. Topics covered included immigration law, improving interviewing & networking, and hearing from CPAs who were born outside the US and how they worked through cultural barriers.

The Careers in Accounting and Management Professions (CAMP) Program visited Boston. Their trip including coming to the MSCPA offices where they heard from 3 speakers and had a pizza party. They also visited Fenway where they met with the Red Sox's accounting department and got a tour of the park.
"The Next Step" A workshop to help you transition from college to career (4/5)
This special workshop, organized by the MSCPA and hosted by PwC, focused on how to build a network and prepare for a Career Fair/Job Interview. Volunteers welcomed accounting students into PwC where they listened to presentations and participated in skill-building activities. A panel of recruiters gave students insight on how put their best foot-forward. After the talks were over the students were able to put their new skills to the test networking over refreshments.

The Careers in Accounting and Management Professions (CAMP) Program visit to Boston 2010
A week-long, all expense-paid summer residency program at UMASS Amherst to introduce students of diverse ethnic backgrounds to various opportunities available in the business world, particularly accounting. This year the students came to the Society's office in Boston and Fenway Park on Wednesday, July 28th, 2010.

MSCPA Career Prep Nite - October 14 2009
The Society hosted its first Career Fair Prep Nite at the MSCPA offices on October 14, 2009. The workshop allowed 34 members to meet with HR representatives and accounting professionals for a pre-career fair workshop in advance of the October 21 Career Fair & Networking Expo.

The MSCPA held its Fall Career Fair/Networking Expo on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Curry Student Center at Northeastern University from 2:30-5:30pm. The first hour of the Expo was exclusively devoted to experienced professionals-in-transition, and the remaining time designated for students and entry-level. Representatives from public accounting, private industry, non-profit organizations and government agencies from all over the Commonwealth met with close to 300 students and professionals.

MSCPA Spring Career Fair/Networking Expo - May 13, 2009 - The Colonnade Hotel
The MSCPA held its Spring Career Fair/Networking Expo on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Colonnade Hotel in Boston from 2:30-5:30pm. This year, the first hour of the Expo was exclusively devoted to experienced professionals-in-transition, and the remaining time designated for students and entry-level. Representatives from public accounting, private industry, non-profit organizations and government agencies from all over the Commonwealth met with over 350 students and professionals.
MSCPA 2009 Annual Meeting and Recognition Reception
Scholarships are administered by the Educational Foundation of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. and are available for both undergrad and grad students. The deadline for this year's application deadline was April 1, 2009. All awards were presented at the Society's 2009 Annual Meeting & Recognition Reception in May. Scholarship funds are issued directly to the individual and can be used at the discretion of the individual (e.g., for tuition, books, interviewing expenses, etc.).

Approximately 70 students from 12 high schools throughout the commonwealth were introduced to the varied career possibilities of the accounting profession and given a realistic idea of college life while attending the Society's "Is Accounting fro Me? From College to Career" conference at UMass Amherst on May 1. The MSCPA October 15th Public Accounting Career Fair
The Society holds a Career Fair each spring and fall for candidates seeking a position in public accounting. The MSCPA Career Fair draws more than 300 Students from the Commonwealth and Neighboring States. Twenty-nine public accounting firms and nine colleges and universities greeted students and professionals-in-transition at the MSCPA's fall career fair held on October 15th at the Boston Marriott Copley.
